Waterproof Investigation
As our wow word of the week was waterproof we decided to have little investigation to decide which gloves were best to keep our hands dry (ie; waterproof) First the children made predictions about which gloves they thought would keep the water out and we drew a chart on the whiteboard. Next we tested them by putting them on one by one and leaving our hand in the water for one minute. We timed this using a sand timer. We took time to discuss what might skew our results and afterwards compared our predictions with outcomes.
We decided that rubber and plastic gloves were best for keeping your hands dry and that although woollen gloves were good for keeping hands warm they wouldn't be good for snowman building as your hands would get wet!
